Preparing for your first shoot.

It’s been a big year for Mustard. With multiple casting days, shoots with huge clients such as Bentley, Nike, Wagamama, and Rolls Royce, 2024 has been our busiest year yet and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon!

We’ve had an influx of gorgeous new faces, so have put together a little guide on preparing for your first shoot.

Plan Ahead

Once your booker confirms you for a shoot, start booking your travel! The sooner you organise your travel, the cheaper it will be. Travel costs can go up the closer it gets to the shoot date, so to avoid extra expenses for yourself and the client, book early! You also want to make sure you have options in case of delays/train strikes etc. Keep an eye on your emails and Trainline, as you should get notified of any disruptions.

Read the details carefully

Your booker will share an overview of all the shoot details with you, along with any call sheets and additional requests from the client. Read this through carefully to make sure you’re clear on everything, and let us know that you have received the details. (Otherwise we’ll chase you for an answer!) If you have any questions, make sure you let your booker know.

Get prepped

Save yourself time and stress by getting everything you need ready the night before. You might be asked to bring some clothes with you, so make sure that they are clean, ironed, and packed – ready to go! Make sure you have a shower the morning of the shoot, unless the client has specified otherwise (E.g.: washing hair the night before). You want to be feeling fresh, with clean nails and skin!

Ask us anything

If you’re feeling nervous, need some advice, or just want to chat, give your booker a call. We’re here to help, and want everyone to have the best shoot possible, so drop us an email, a text, or give us a call. We’re more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Now all you have to do is get the shot!
